Please note the following the following change that it applicable to non .uk domain names. This basically measn that for all newly registered domains or for existing domains where the contact details are updated, the registry will send an e-mail to you requesting that you confirm the details. Failure to confirm this will result in your domain name being suspended. Unfortunately we have no control or variation from this process as it is specified by ICANN and enforced by the registry.

Notice:

As of January 1, 2014, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has mandated that all ICANN accredited registrars begin verifying the WHOIS contact information for all new domain registrations and Registrant contact modifications.

A change to the Registered Name Holder of a domain name is defined as any change to the first name, last name, or email address of the registrant contact. A change to the Registered Name Holder of a domain name will trigger the contact verification process whereby an email containing a verification link will be sent to the registrant email address. The link in the email must be clicked by the recipient of the email in order to complete the verification process.

Failure to complete the verification process will result in one of the following:

  1. For new domain registrations and contact updates via our API: failing to complete the verification process within 15 days will result in the suspension of the registered domain(s) or those domains that were updated as a result of a contact change
  2. For contact change requests submitted via our website, failure to complete the verification process within 7 days will result in the requested contact change request being cancelled.

If contact verification is required and not successfully completed, then the domain(s) that were registered or associated with the contact change will require suspension. Domain suspension involves eNom taking over the DNS of the domain and posting a page on the domain listing instructions on how the name can be verified and have the DNS returned to the previous settings.

User Interface changes

At the point of any change of the First name, Last name or e-mail address that will update the WHOIS data, there should be a call out that states: “Any changes to these fields will require verification. An e-mail will be sent to the current e-mail address with a verification link. Failure to click the verification link within 15 calendar days will result in the suspension of all domains associated with this contact information until the verification is complete.”

During new account set up, a call out should be visible when filling out the e-mail address field: “Upon your first domain purchase, a verification e-mail will be sent to this e-mail address. You will need to select the verification link in the e-mail within 15 days to avoid any disruption to your domain(s)”.

  3. You will assume sole responsibility for the registration and use of your domain name.
